The Bland Diet Includes Proteins Without Fibrous, Fatty Meats

Lots of people have a hard time taking meats out of their meals. However, when you eat this type of menu, you must avoid most meats, especially when they are fried. Many prescribed versions allow chicken breast and fish as long as it is not seasoned or fried. Chicken and fish must also be soft. Some doctors recommend ground chicken or fish.

Beef and pork are high in fat and cholesterol content. However, you can still enjoy these meats as long as they are lean cuts like tenderloin or trimmed beef chuck. Small portions of these meats are preferred as well. Grinding meat into a softer form is recommended to avoid gastric distress. Mind The Sweets And Dairy Products While On A Bland Diet

The prescribed menu you may get from your doctor may include some sweets you can eat as long as they are low fat and do not contain caffeine. For those people trying to lose weight while on a bland diet, sweets should be limited a great deal. Choose fruits instead that have been mashed. Fruit smoothies are an excellent choice for nutrient levels and great, sweet taste as well. Choose only bananas, grapefruits, and oranges when fresh. Most canned fruits are acceptable as long as they are unsweetened.

Milk and cheeses can also be high in fat and cholesterol. Choosing only those products that are low fat and low in sugar is best when trying lose weight. Make sure you make the choice for frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. Choose smooth and subtle cheeses over those with smoke or spicy type flavorings added. Yogurt, sour cream, and cottage cheeses are great choices.

Never Leave Out Your Vegetables

Most every vegetable is an acceptable choice for this diet. However, you will want to avoid those that cause gas build up in your stomach and intestines like broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower. Never eat these vegetables raw, but steamed to softness.

Many dieters choose whole wheat breads for lower calories. While this is a good choice, the bland diet should include refined white bread instead to avoid wheat. Wheat can cause gastric upset more so than other grains.
